Spring is the perfect time to tackle some of those home improvement projects on your list, so consider this plan to jumpstart the process:

1. Look around your home. What are top three things that have been bugging you? Does your granite need to be sealed? Are your floors a mess? Do those window coverings need replacing? Take the top three and make them a priority.
2. Consider how long you’re going to be in the home and make sure that youa re going to get the best return on your investment. Bath make-overs are great, a remodeled office – not so much.
3. Don’t forget that idea book. Look through magazines and books for inspiration.
4. Nail down a budget. Knowing exactly what you have to spend will save you a lot of time and frustration.
5. Start lining up your crew. Do you research thoroughly and set your installers, contractors and the companies you buy from.
6. Get the right permits. If you try and sneak past this process, it may come back to bite you when you try and sell your home.
7. Be flexible, be patient and communicate! Things take TIME – so scheduling accordingly. Because today’s manufacturers are not producing as much – count on waiting for material and let your team know so they don’t book their schedule when you don’t have the product you’ve selected.
8. Think safety! Make sure you keep the job site clean, put away supplies and don’t have too many trades working at once.

Follow these simple rules and before you know it, you can look around your home with pride!
