By far one of the most popular topics for our blogs are about cleaning and maintaining your home. While these are some great products on the market, sometimes it just takes a few common household supplies and some good old fashion elbow grease.

Dried Milk – Easy peasy! Simply soal a sponge or wash cloth with hot water and press it into the dried milk. In a few seconds the dried milk should dissolve. Simply wipe it away and if it was on wood, polish with a small dab of oil.

Honeycomb Shades – The most effective way to clean blinds to remove them from the hardware and take them outside. With a clean, soft bristled paint brush, carefully flick away any visible dirt or dust. You can also use an upholstery attachment on your vacuum, but be extra careful – some cellular shades can be fragile.

Houseplants – Yes, they get dirty too! A damp micro fiber cloth removes debris; don’t waste your money on a commercial leaf polish product. Just use a few drops of vegetable oil on the top of the leaves, but don’t bother with the bottom of the leaves as the pores need to breathe.
